Follow the verified level brackets to maximize quest EXP and obtain location-specific weapon drops.

Sea 1 Progression

Anchor Town

Clown Town

Level 30 – 70

Maple Village

Level 70+
High-Level Hub, Life Skills & Naval Port

Ships & Naval Travel

How to acquire boats, upgrade to heavy naval vessels, and cross the ocean safely.

Vessel Classes

Rowboat / Dinghy

Free / Minimal Gold

Harbor Location: Anchor Town Beach Dock

Cruising Speed: Standard

Capabilities: Basic inter-island transit, single-seater, fragile hull. Ideal for reaching Clown Town.

Large Ship

Purchasable Gold / Coins

Harbor Location: Maple Village Harbor (NPC Mary)

Cruising Speed: Fast (Enhanced Sails)

Capabilities: High durability, multi-crew capacity, mounted Cannons for sea combat, Anchor mechanic, and sail customization.

Sailing Tip: Always drop anchor (E / Interact) when docking at a new island to prevent your vessel from drifting into open ocean currents while you are completing town quests.

Why the level brackets matter

Grand Blue gates progress by level and combat power rather than by geography. You can physically sail to a late island before you are ready, but the mobs there will simply delete you — the brackets above exist so you farm the content that actually rewards your current strength. Fighting above your bracket wastes time and consumables for loot you cannot yet use.

How to move through the islands

  1. Anchor Town (1–30) — finish the tutorial, set your race and traits, and farm the repeatable Captive Swordsman quest.
  2. Clown Town (30–70) — summon the rowboat and sail over, then run Johnny's repeatable quests and farm Basaji for the Last Laugh sword.
  3. Maple Village (70+) — the endgame hub for life skills, cooking buffs, farm fields, and the large-ship dock.

Ship progression in practice

The free rowboat gets you to Clown Town, but it is a fragile single-seater meant for short hops. The real upgrade is the large ship from Mary at the Maple Village harbor: it brings durability, multiple crew slots, mounted cannons for sea combat, and an anchor you should always drop before leaving it to quest. Think of the rowboat as a commute and the large ship as the vessel you actually explore the ocean with.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the recommended island leveling order in Grand Blue?

Follow Anchor Town (Levels 1–30) → Clown Town (Levels 30–70) → Maple Village (Level 70+). Keep an eye on your in-game Logbook to match your current combat power.

How do I get a ship to travel between islands?

You can summon a basic Rowboat at the Anchor Town dock once you reach level 30. For endgame ocean transit and cannons, buy the Large Ship from NPC Mary at the Maple Village harbor.

How do treasure maps work on different islands?

Treasure Maps mark buried loot across various island coordinates. Follow the designated X coordinates, defeat guarding bandits, and use a shovel to excavate Celestial Coins and loot.

Can I go back to earlier islands after progressing?

Yes, and you should. Earlier islands stay useful for repeatable quests, fruit spawns, and low-risk farming. With a ship you can loop back to Anchor Town or Clown Town in minutes to top up coins or hunt a specific drop.
