Before you fight anything, join the official Discord and redeem every active code — they hand you Trait Rerolls, Race Rerolls, Fruit Chests and Celestial Coins, which is a large head start for zero effort. Do it first, because codes expire without warning.
With codes banked, play the opening Anchor Town quests to learn the controls and finish the character setup, then decide on a kit: a Cursed Fruit for a flashy moveset or a fighting style for a more technical one. Both add a skill tier that stacks rather than replacing anything, so there is no wrong first pick.
